Befana is an old woman who goes around giving gifts to children all over Italy on the eve of the Epiphany. She is known to be the candy lady. The tradition is to leave an empty sock hanging near your chimney or in any case in the main hall.
Expect to see Befana to come around the 5ht of January!
The old lady comes and fills it up with sweets. For those kids a little too naughty she leaves a bit of carbon as well :).. Although even the carbon she leaves is a candy so lets say she is really generous :).
So do not forget! If you are in Italy than do leave an empty sock before going to sleep as long as you can find 🙂
