You have come to Florence with Firenze Lodging, great thanks for your business!  Now you want to blend with the locals right?  Ok maybe not completely but at least let’s don’t get spot from miles away…

Read on the 10 ways not too look like a tourist in Florence.

1. Look down
Gawping up at the sky, waiting for the next bird to fly over you, looking at the map with flip up sunglasses is not what locals do.

2. Eat in the small, local places where the menus are only in English.  Tourist restaurants are in tourist areas you get a very nice service indubitably but if you look around you will find the places where Italians go for lunch!

3. Put the Camera down. We all want great holiday snaps, but enough already. Take a look at what you are there to see without a lens, at least for a second.

4. Leave the Guide book at home and meet real people.
Most people will be more interested in showing you something you can’t find in a guide book. Think about back home, would you show anyone the guidebook version of your town?

5. Stare at the beautiful Italian women like a stalker. Even if they are naked on the beach with a perfect tan. They have sunglasses on, they know you are looking. Stare at the ugly ones too for cover.

6. Express that MichaelAngelo was your favorite Ninja Turtle.

7. If you hear Italian music playing you are in a tourist area or place, if you hear Shania Twain or Madonna, then you are probably somewhere authentic.

8. Stay in the Holiday Inn. Whilst we have nothing against Holiday Inn, stay somewhere with a little history.

9. Leave Italy acting irritatingly superior to your friends who have never even been on a plane. Droning on about Frascati and Botecelli.

10. Don’t call yourself Canadian instead of American. Really. Seriously.
