Florence, Prato and Pistoia have become part of  the “Free WiFi Italy“, the  free wireless internet!Already includes the Province of Rome, Sardinia and the Municipality of Venice now thanks to “Free WiFi Italy”, one can not only surf for free in public areas of the province, but also in those who already have joined the national network, using the same credentials recorded in Tuscany.

The network already has 1,109 hot spots active, 8 federated networks, and 215,712 registered users. A WiFi zone that continues to spread throughout Italy. Making life easier for citizens were one of the declarations of the President of the Province of Florence Andrea Barducci, together with Presidents of Prato and Pistoia Gestri Fratoni – With this project we demonstrate concretely that administrative simplifications are a priority. ”

“Free WiFi Italy” points on creating a national federation of existing public WiFi networks, taking advantage of the ability to interconnect systems, to allow each registered user access to all federated networks with the same credentials. In simpler words one does not need to change the user-id and password.

This proposal gives registered users an hour of free navigation and a traffic of 300Mbytes per day. In the Florence, free access to the network are available in the areas of Piazza della Signoria, Piazza Santa Croce, Piazza Santo Spirito, Piazza Santissima Annunziata, Parterre Freedom Square, Via Canova (registry offices), Piazza Alberti, Villa Arrivabene, Piazzale Michelangelo, Piazzale Cascine and are in the process of installing some other access’ in all the municipalities of the province and on  Tramway Florence- Scandicci.
