Let’s say you have not listened at all at some suggestion about driving in Florence and you are attempting a drive in to the city center, lets’ try to make it as easy as possible:

Car in Florence

Coming down from the North (Milano – Bologna) on the A1 Autostrada (also know as Autrostrada del Sole) you will be encountering the following exits:

  • Firenze Nord is good for reaching the city center follow road signs for “Viali di Circonvallazione”, “Centro”, “Stazione”;
  • Firenze Scandicci goes to the suburb so NOT a good option, skip this exit;
  • Firenze Impruneta is another good exit for the city center follow directions for Piazzale Michelangelo, Porta Romana suitable when reaching properties in the Oltrarno;
  • Firenze Sud is the last exit to Florence city good for properties in Santa Croce area, again follow signs to “Centro”, “Stazione”, “Viali di Circonvallazione”;

If you are coming from the South (Napoli, Roma) same A1 Autostrada but from the opposite direction you can take the Firenze Sud or Impruneta or Firenze Nord exit depending on your final destination.

(: Autostrada A1 takes from Napoli to Milano and back 🙂

Florence can also be reached coming from the Autostrada A11 also known “La Firenze mare” this will be if you are coming from Pisa or Livorno,  exit at the same point as from firenze Nord, simply follow directions for “Viali di Circonvallazione”, “Centro”, “Stazione”.

Happy driving in Florence 🙂
